Time for Crafting Inspirations
I started these aprons and towels back in October, hoping to have them in my Etsy Shop by Christmas. Well....that didn't happen. I kept procrastinating. And now I've missed the Christmas shopping season. I had so much fun picking out the fabrics but when it came to actually sitting down to sew, I was just not motivated.
Here's my sewing room, a.k.a, the formal dining room.
I even had some really cute patterns to use.
So, I decided to put it all away, take a break from these projects for my shop and refocus on crafting and artsy fartsy-ing for fun. For my own creative sanity. I realized that about 5 years ago, when I started my shop, all my creative focus has been on my Etsy shop and not on creating art for fun.
About 6 or 7 years ago, when I started crafting, I started going on line and getting really good deals at scrapbook shops on supplies......some I've never even used (like this Cricut cartridge).
Or this board....
and these frames....
these distressing inks (I wonder if they even still work)....
....sticky backed canvas sheets....
...foil sheets, stencil sheets (you can create your own stencils using your Cricut to cut it!!!)....
And this packet of papers and burlap....speaking of burlap...I need to go pull out my red burlap I haven't looked at in 6 years.
So you see, these supplies are begging to be used. And I'm answering the call. I'm putting my creative needs first.
Now, to go get sucked in to Pinterest for inspiration. Follow me on Pinterest to see what's inspiring me (my board called Crafty Inspirations).
So many possibilities!!!!

It's Summer Time!!!!
It's summer time!
And you know what that means....plenty of time to do the things I neglect to do during the school year.
The life of a teacher can be pretty hectic during the school year but the summer gives me time to create, read and spend time with my family.
This summer I'll be doing a lot of reading. Some for fun, some for information.
We recently got 2 puppies and I need to read up on how to train them.
My daughter,Sophia, and I joined the Hurst Summer Reading program and are logging our hours for book bucks. Here's their website.
Sophia and I visited the Girl Scout store in Southlake and picked up some books to help guide us independently to earn badges over the summer. It gives you activity choices, things to discuss and take action on. In each package, they come with 4-5 different badge activities and they were only $4 for the package. Here's their on-line store. Tomorrow we'll begin working on her painting badge by going to an art museum.
And I finally have time to print out all those recipes from Facebook and Pinterest that I've been dying to try but forgot all about. We tried this really good soup recipe. If you like Chili's Chicken Enchilada Soup, you'll love this recipe.
And of course, what would the summer be without planning Sophia's birthday in June. I can't believe she's turning 8!!!
And last but not least, I'll have time to add items to my Etsy Shop, Kaminski's Creations.

Let's Get Organized!
For those of you that don't know, I'd planned on having a booth at the L.D. Bell Craft Fair the first weekend in December. I've done it twice before with lackluster results. But thought, maybe this was my year. My friend let me share her booth space and it was a prime spot. Unfortunately, a HUGE ice storm hit us around that same time. We were out from school 2 days and the craft fair was canceled. Boo! Not postponed. Boo! Just canceled. Boooooo!
So a few of the bigger items I'd made will eventually make it to my shop but shipping costs may prohibit that. Wondering if my consignment friends would like me to send them there??
So now on to the post......
A great way to keep your family organized for the next year is a menu board. You log what you'll be serving. Everyone knows what to expect. Plus, you commit yourself to actually making it. Putting it in writing makes it more of a commitment.
The first chalkboard menu board I made I framed in wine corks.
Yes, they are authentic and have been removed from an actual bottle of wine.
The back looks like this. Just in case you get tired of being organized or need a break. It hangs by a twine rope that my husband drilled holes for. I tied knots in one side (the menu side) and it loops around the back.
The 2nd menu board is also chalkboard but with dining utensils as a frame. All I did was buy old utensils and spray paint them a robin's egg blue.
I glued them on with E 6000.
I decorated the back, just in case you get bored with menu planning.....
My 3rd menu board is a dry erase board. I used an old frame that I spray painted black. Behind the glass I did an arrangement of papers that are super retro and fun! All you have to do is buy a dry erase marker and write on top of the glass. Erase each week with a paper towel and rewrite.
